Elo to Turku!

Well-being is a fundamental right for everyone, regardless of age or income level. Taking care of mental well-being, ensuring access to help and support, and providing meaningful activities enable a good life. Every child and young person deserves an adult who meets them with warmth. Every adult has the right to education, work, support, and a community to be enable to thrive. Every elderly person needs to feel valued. The well-being of Turku’s residents is a shared responsibility for all of us.

In addition to efficient basic services, well-being is supported by culture, nearby nature, and accessible sports facilities. A sense of community, being a part of something, and feeling valued also contribute to well-being. I want the people of Turku to have a good life.

A high-quality educational path from early childhood education to secondary school and further to higher education must be seamless, high-quality, and inspiring. Special attention must be paid to the well-being of children and young people to ensure that everyone can learn and grow. Growth and learning must be supported in moderate sized groups with sufficient resources, and every child and young person must be given enough support for learning. Everyone should have the opportunity to become the best version of themselves.

Skills ensure employment and integration into the society. As the employment services are now the city’s responsibility, we must ensure more effective employment, education, and integration pathways for everyone. I want Turku to have Finland’s best learning path and to be Finland’s leading city in promoting employment.

All decisions must consider social, economic, and ecological sustainability. When planning and organizing city services, everyone must be taken into account, including those whose voices are often unheard.

The city must be built in an ecologically and socially sustainable way—it can be dense but not dominated by concrete. Green spaces, parks and forests must be accessible to all, and every residential area should be diverse and pleasant. We must tirelessly work to reduce well-being disparities, the segregation between different neighborhoods. Turku must uphold its climate goals and take even greater action to improve the condition of the Archipelago Sea. I want that also the future generations have a good life in Turku.
